The Survey of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment at the Military Service Academies (MSAs): Overview Report provides results from the 2024 Service Academy Gender Relations Survey (SAGR) related to unwanted sexual contact, sexual harassment, and sex discrimination at the MSAs. This overview report of the MSAs focuses on these experiences, as well as characteristics of reporting and perceived retaliation, and the culture related to prevention and reporting of these unwanted behaviors at the academies.

Note: Prior to 2025, OPA research products used the term “gender” to describe men and women. These groups were defined using survey items and/or administrative data categories for “male” and “female”; therefore, references to gender should be understood to mean “sex”.

The results are presented by academy, sex, and class year. Although the estimated prevalence rates of unwanted sexual contact, sexual harassment, and sex discrimination have decreased for MSA men and women since 2022, it is equally important to recognize that these estimated prevalence rates appear approximate to levels seen in prior SAGR efforts. Where possible, the report presents statistical comparisons between results from previous administrations of SAGRs.
