This report contains tabulations of responses from the 2009 Workplace and Equal Opportunity Survey of Active Duty Members (2009 WEOA) conducted February 2 to April 30, 2009. The 2009 WEOA fulfills the Congressional mandate outlined in Title 10 U. S. Code Section 481 for Joint Service quadrennial assessments of race/ethnic issues. The 2009 WEOA is the third DMDC active duty survey of racial/ethnic issues and was modeled on previous DMDC surveys of active duty members, the 1996 Equal Opportunity Status of the Armed Forces Survey (1996 EOS) and the 2005 Workplace and Equal Opportunity Survey of Active Duty Members (WEOA2005). These surveys were designed to estimate the level and consequences of racial/ethnic harassment and discrimination.
