In Group Hazing and Bullying Metrics and Rates for the Active Duty and Reserve Components

Details

Hazing and bullying behaviors erode unit cohesion, trust, and ultimately the combat readiness of the Armed Forces. The Implementation and Validation of the DoD Hazing and Bulling Metrics (HBM): Executive Report summarizes the development, implementation, and validation of the DoD HBM, which was designed to estimate the prevalence of hazing and bullying in the military via scientific survey. This executive report focuses on members of the DoD’s active and Reserve components. Taken together, the analyses suggest that the DoD HBM is a reliable and valid measure and is appropriate to use for estimating the prevalence of hazing, bullying, and combined hazing/bullying in the military via a Department-wide scientific survey
