This 2024 Active Duty Spouse Survey: Summary of Key Findings by Housing Location executive note includes data from the 2024 Active Duty Spouse Survey (2024 ADSS) by spouse housing location. Data are shown for spouses living on base and those living off base in 2024.

In 2024, a higher percentage of spouses living on base were satisfied with the military way of life (54%) compared to spouses living off base (45%). A higher percentage of spouses living off base were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied (29%) or dissatisfied (26%) with the military way of life compared to spouses living on base (24%, 22%, respectively). From 2021 to 2024, among spouses living off base, the percent dissatisfied increased from 22% to 26%. Results for spouses living on base were similar in 2021 and 2024.
